Volunteers

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the library. The goal of our volunteer program is to enhance the services that the library provides to the citizens of our counties while providing a satisfying experience for volunteers. Volunteer positions vary depending on the library’s needs including: Teen Volunteer, Shelver, Mobile Library Volunteer, Bookstore Assistant, Program Assistant, Local History and Genealogy Assistant, English as a Second Language Tutor and Adult Literacy Tutor. Teen Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age.

How to Become a Library Volunteer

Complete a Volunteer Interest Form  and provide the completed form to the library location where you want to volunteer.  If a position is available, you will be contacted and asked to complete the Volunteer Application and Release of Liability form. We do not always have openings, so you will only be contacted if we have an available position.

If there is an available position and staff has contacted you to volunteer, you will be requested to complete the Volunteer Application, Background Investigation Form,  and Release of Liability form. We will conduct a background check. This process can take up to 4 to 6 weeks. Once your background check is complete and approved, you will be contacted so we can schedule a date for training you on your volunteer assignment.

Note: Northwest Regional Library System does not offer volunteer positions for those fulfilling court ordered Community Service hours.
