Resources in the Youth Department

Internet is available in the
Youth Services Area!
Three (3) workstation has been set aside for Youth under 18.
Children 13 and under must have parents sign an Internet Permission Form before using the
Internet. See our Policy!

Books, Videos and Books on Tape
The Youth Services area contains a variety of books,
videos and books on tape for check out. The department contains over 31,000 items. Books
and materials designed for babies through adulthood can be found.

Board Books
Board books are designed for the youngest library users.
Designed with a sturdy hard board format for babies and toddlers to handle.

Easy Picture Books
From old time favorites to the newest authors are
available for reading aloud to preschool as well as children of all ages. Picture books
are also suitable for children whose reading skills are beyond the beginning reader stage.
Beginning Readers
Beginning Readers are designed and written for children
that are just learning to read. They offer large print, few words on a page, and easy to
read vocabulary.

Intermediate Readers
Fiction titles in hardback and paperbacks are available
for every age group. Some third grade titles are set aside to help this age group make the
transition from beginning readers to chapter books.
Young Adult Books
The young adult collection contain titles of interest to
teens in middle and high school.
Classics can also be found in this section.
Magazines
Children and Young Adult magazines are available for
browsing in the library. They cannot be checked out. Youth Services provides National
Geographic Magazine for checkout.
Games
Chess and checker sets are available to use in the
library. Puzzles, LEGOs and toys are also available.

Choosing Books For Your Child
With so many books being published each year, it is hard
to decide what is good and what is not. To help you choose what is good for your child, a
variety of bibliographies are available to help you to decide. Remember you can always ask
the Librarian on duty for recommendations.
