Interlibrary
Loan Policy
The Northwest Regional
Library System, (NWRLS), Interlibrary Loan service provides patrons an opportunity to
obtain materials not owned by NWRLS. This service is provided through our participation in
a network of state and national libraries. In Florida, the network is known as the Florida
Interlibrary Loan Network, or FLIN.
|
NWRLS both borrows and lends materials. This
service is available to all holders of current NWRLS library cards, with no overdue
materials or fines. There is no charge for this service. Patrons must follow these rules:
- Patrons must have a valid NWRLS library card with
no fines or overdue books.
- Patrons may have no more than 4 requests or loans
at one time.
- We will not request titles owned by this library,
unless overdue more than 3 months and presumed lost.
- We will not request materials owned by another
local library, such as Gulf Coast Community College, Lynn Haven Public Library, etc.
- We will not request books in popular demand, complete issues of magazines,
audiovisual materials or textbooks assigned by an instructor.
- Genealogy material, local history, and reference
books are not loaned by many libraries. Patrons should inform staff if they are aware of a
library or genealogical society willing to loan the materials.
- There are no renewals of ILL materials.
- Payment for late materials is 25¢ per day, per
item.
The NWRLS does not charge for Interlibrary Loan
services, but some lending libraries charge for copies, postage, and/or insurance. In this
case, the patron is responsible for all costs except for return postage and insurance.
After your request is submitted, a librarian will contact you if
there is a question about your loan, or if it's not available.
Otherwise, you won't be contacted until the material arrives.
